Jennie runs these weekly classes in two 10 week terms each year.  Starting January and September

Jennie’s weekly pottery classes have been running for over 20 years, with just 8 students at a time in a modern studio. Students get a concentrated experience of practical pottery and superior teaching. Jennie teaches both hand-building and throwing using our now famous Donyatt clay body. At the end of each 10 week term there is a wood-firing or two, for which students have glazed and decorated their work. Some students also get involved with kiln packing and firing.

Wood-firing is a special way of working and though used by many more potters now than say 20 years ago, it is still unusual as the mainstay of finishing work in a teaching situation. Wood firing has been the specialty of Ridge Pottery from its start in Queen Camel in 1977.  Firing with wood as a fuel is both more environmentally acceptable as well as adding greatly to the beauty of the glazes and the fire clay.
